Welcome Back!

It’s been a rough past few months and though things are still not back to what we once knew as normal, we have begun to adapt in ways that many of us probably never even thought imaginable.

Over the summer, our Workforce Solutions team gathered for a socially-distanced staff meeting where our Vice President Jeanian Clark quoted leadership guru and author Andy Stanley as saying, “All this pain, with no gain, would be an extraordinary shame!” In other words, why fight your way through resistance if you don’t learn anything from it? From social distancing to homeschooling children to working from home and several other newly acquired norms, we are stepping out of quarantine with more patience, increased resilience, and refined adaptability because if there is one thing that 2020 has taught us, it would be: no matter what the world throws at you, find the strength to keep going.

Earlier this year, we published several webinars and blogs that centered around overcoming the ongoing crisis including Working and Learning in a Time of Crisis, Start Preparing for Change, and Adapting Through Communication. While we were in the early stages of the pandemic and the national quarantine at that point, we wanted to provide alternative professional and educational resources as well as give a gentle reminder that this crisis is temporary and change is coming so when it finally hits, we should all be prepared for it. From the time our doors were forced closed in March until where we are now, our students, employers, and community remain our top priority.

As a team, we were not exempt from hardships brought about by the crisis. In both our personal and professional lives, we’ve had to work through and overcome our own obstacles while also refocusing our efforts to meet the needs of our community. We knew that it was necessary to continue to refocus, communicate, and adapt as many times as it took because the fluidity and ever-changing climate of the crisis wouldn’t allow us to settle. We were looking forward to the day when we could once again open our doors to our students and here we are! Things may look a little different with extra protocols and additional safety measures in place but rest assured that we are still here, still committed to your success.

In the words of LFCC’s President Kimberly Blosser, “Make this year count,” and let’s finish out 2020 stronger than we came in!
