Sallie Mae® Loan Process
There are several grant options that may cover the costs of predetermined classes, those grants may also have qualifications that not all applicants will meet. For those who do not qualify for grants or those needing financial assistance with the cost of Workforce Solutions classes, we also work with Sallie Mae® which offers loans to credit-qualified applicants. These loans are repaid via installment payments directly to Sallie Mae®.
To qualify/apply for a Sallie Mae® loan
- Cost of the class must exceed $1,000
- Student must apply online from the Sallie Mae website®
- On the Sallie Mae page, click on the Apply for a loan in the upper righthand corner
- Choose Student (I’m attending school or plan to soon.) and click on Continue
- Enter your contact information (FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, EMAIL ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER) and click on Continue
- Enter your State (ex. Virginia) and type in Laurel to see loan choices:
- Be sure to choose LAUREL RIDGE COMMUNITY COLLEGE – WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS, MIDDLETOWN, VA, 00865998
- You will then answer questions about the program that you want, start date and amount of the loan (the loan amount cannot exceed the cost of the class)
- Once approved, student must register for the class by phone or in-person with Workforce Solutions
- After approval, Workforce Solutions will be notified and will certify your loan amount, ensuring it doesn’t exceed the cost of your class
- Once the loan is certified, Sallie Mae will disburse the funds directly to Workforce Solutions to pay for your class
