DESCRIPTION:Learn the fundamentals of Sensor Technology. As manufacturing and industry becomes increasingly automated\, the understanding of sensors is critical. Sensors are eyes\, ears\, touch\, and feel of automated systems. Students will be introduced to the various sensors common in the industrial automation field. Hands on training and examples are used to demonstrate the general operational principles of different sensors with a focus on the selection of the right sensor\, its connection\, the correct setting and functional checking. Successful completers will receive an NC3 credential in Fundamentals of Sensor Technology. Mechatronics courses require previous experience. If you do not have previous experience with mechatronics or advanced technology\, it is strongly recommended that the Fundamental courses are taken in the following order: Electricity\, Mechanical Systems\, Fluid Power\, Sensors\, PLC\, and Robotics.

Content covers compressors\, storage\, dryers and distribution as well as the design\, construction and operation of a range of actuators\, valves and ancillary equipment. The relevant ISO symbols are introduced and included in circuit diagrams. The hydraulics training will familiarize students with the fundamental principles of hydraulics as well as individual components. Valves controlling pressure\, flow rate\, sequence and direction of flow are included and practical exercises are used. Maintenance and a systematic approach to fault finding are also covered.
