Managing Your Emotions in the Workplace

February 14, 2023, Tue, 8 a.m. – Noon

  • The ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges, and defuse conflict is an essential skillset in the business world, especially in high-stress environments. Professionals who have a high level of awareness and control over their emotions and use their emotions to connect with others and develop relationships, find greater success and satisfaction in the workplace.

This class is designed to provide you with the knowledge and tools to develop your emotional intelligence. You’ll learn how to avoid self-sabotaging outcomes by altering how you perceive and respond to emotionally charged situations. In addition, you’ll improve your ability to resolve conflict constructively, create a productive work environment, build and mend relationships, and bounce back from setbacks and disappointment.

Developing Positive Relationships at Work

February 28, 2023, Tue, 8 a.m. – Noon

  • A Globoforce study discovered that 78% of people who work 30 to 50 hours a week spend more time with coworkers than with their families. Considering this, support and encouragement between work colleagues are highly important. Yet, too often workplace culture is divisive and competitive in a negative way. This course will teach participants how to develop relationships with coworkers that are supportive, constructive, encouraging, and free from negative drama or conflict. As a result, employees will create a more harmonious office space, be able to work through disagreements, find more team solidarity, and ultimately have more job satisfaction.

Analytical Thinking Skills

March 14, 2023, Tue, 8 a.m. – Noon

  • Every day we make decisions at work based on personal experience, conventional wisdom, or accepted best practices. Sometimes these decisions are appropriate, but how do we know for sure? The ability to systematically and logically work through an issue, focusing on evidence as the basis for decision-making is a power skill that leads to more accurate and sustainable outcomes. This course will teach you how to gather and assess data following a systematic process for objective and verifiable conclusions, as well as how to communicate your analysis in a relatable and clear manner.

Balancing Priorities

March 28, 2023, Tue, 8 a.m. – Noon

  • In our increasingly competitive world, we all need to be more productive than ever. Not only must we do our jobs in less time and with fewer resources, but we also often work for more than one boss and one more than one team. As a result, we may face conflicting tasks, deadlines, and expectations, making it difficult to identify what’s most important. Furthermore, the transformations in our workplaces brought about by technology have – in addition to the many benefits – increased the speed and complexity of our work.

This course will enable you to properly prioritize your obligations, allowing you to improve performance and productivity. As a result, you’ll also achieve a better work/life balance, minimize the stress related to managing your tasks efficiently, and ultimately improve working relationships.

The “Write” Way to Communicate

April 11, 2023, Tue, 8 a.m. – Noon

  • Good writing skills are imperative in the workplace at every organizational level. Those who can communicate well in writing are an asset not only to themselves but to their company because clear, professional writing saves time, reflects positivity, and builds credibility. In this class, you’ll learn how to plan and organize your message, as well as how to improve your writing to make it clear and concise. You’ll feel confident creating messages that engage the reader and get the results you want. Much of this course speaks about writing in the context of email since it is the most dominant method of communication in today’s workplace; however, many of the techniques are applicable no matter the method/form of writing.
